Amazon.com book reviews:

Review No. 1
I teach wild edible plants and I think this book is one of the best for
the West. It is an identification book, not a cookbook. It falls short
on color pictures but has good line drawings.

Review No. 2
Good guide to identifying wild edibles. Covers more plants than any
other edibles book we know of. Not alot of detail as to how to prepare
the plants. No color pictures, but good line drawings help with ID

There really is no one great guide to wild edibles. This one covers the
most plants, and does it decently well. I've always appreciated this
book because I know that if I can't find it in here, it probably isn't
edible. Kirk's guide at least covers enough plants that you are sure to
find dozens in your neck of the woods to start playing with.
